Faculty / Administrators
Welcome to The Alliance Web site! We are so glad that you have chosen to be a part of this great fraternity of Assemblies of God administrators and faculty members at our 19 endorsed schools. Those of us in The Alliance office know the vital role you play in our schools; your efforts are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your willingness to be a part of the team of AG educators! I know that with your credentials you could go somewhere else and make more money or gain more notoriety. But I am thankful for the CALL you feel to our schools. I believe that you ARE making a difference in the lives of so many students.
The reason I make that bold statement is because of the impact AG college administrators and faculty members had upon my life when I attended one of our schools as an undergraduate. As a young, rather immature 19-year old, I set foot on one of our campuses 1,000 miles away from my home. I became part of a new family. Yes, the students I met became like my brothers and sisters, but the new authority figures in my life were those men and women called by God to fill leadership roles at that school.
Some of them became instruments of God that shaped my life as they brought correction when I "got off course behaviorally." Yes, I am an example of one of those students that sheepishly walked into the administrator's office after doing something stupid, a prank gone too far. I am grateful for the maturity those administrators showed as they held me accountable for my actions. But, they also provided a great model of how authority should be wrapped in servant leadership. I respected them deeply because I could sense the depth of their walk with God. God's hands were shaping me...through those administrators.
And, words cannot adequately describe the gratitude in my heart for those professors who taught me in those formative years. Even today, as I read from the Book of Romans or other books of the Bible, my thoughts always return to those days when that AG faculty member forced me to grapple with the text. Whenever I discuss any kind of psychological issue, my mind often returns to that class of basic General Psychology that taught me so much about how a Christian should view human psychology. And, on and on I could go. God's hands were again shaping me...through those professors.
Paul wrote to the church in Corinth and told them, "Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." I echo those words of Pau...to you. Let me say to you again...you ARE making a difference; your labors are NOT in vain.
May God bless and anoint you as you labor in this extremely important role — that of an Assemblies of God college/university/seminary administrator or faculty member. We are praying for you regularly. Please contact us if we can help you in any way; we will do our best to assist you in your God-given task.
